2022: Russian-Chinese company Passion intends to replace ICT equipment manufacturers who left the market

The Russian-Chinese company Passion announced its entry into the Russian market and signed a contract with one of the largest Chinese operators China Unicom. Under the contract, the Chinese operator will develop its infrastructure in Russia and Belarus based on Passion equipment. Passion announced this on July 26, 2022 at the official business launch ceremony in Russia.

In the Russian market, Passion is still operating on the basis of Hard Box, which is 100% owned by Alexei Ivantsov, who previously worked at Megafon. The company was organized in 2018 and at the beginning of 2022 there was only one employee. Now, according to Alexei Ivantsov, the company is rapidly increasing its staff in all directions, hiring both industrial designers and technical support employees.

We are now deciding what structure the Russian company Passion will have, whether it will be one company or there will be a group with a division into business areas. In any case, within a month, the shareholders will include top managers of the company, "Alexey Ivantsov told TAdviser.

Shares in the Russian legal entity will be received by the deputy general director of Passion Artem Chertishchev and the brand manager Yu Senyuy. According to the service "Kontur. Focus," Artem Chertishchev co-owner and general director of the telecom operator "Distelecom." Another co-owner of Distelecom, Dmitry Shultsev, became the technical director of Passion. In addition, the shareholders should include another Chinese investor, whose name Alexei Ivantsov did not name.

The company intends to supply the Russian market with both IT equipment - servers, DSS, routers, and consumer devices - smartphones, laptops and all-in-ones.

According to him, Russian companies after the departure of global vendors from the market had problems with technical support. Passion intends to build full-fledged support in Russia, transferring the experience of its Chinese investor to the domestic market.

As Alexey Ivantsov commented on TAdviser, orders for the production of equipment are placed in three Chinese factories. Equipment will be imported in Russia in large batches, a significant warehouse stock will be created. Therefore, equipment deliveries will take from several days to a month, and not 8-12 weeks, as is the case in the framework of parallel imports. According to the CEO of Passion, the company produces equipment in the same factories as the world's leading vendors.

Alexey Ivantsov noted that the company has already signed several agreements on the supply of IT and telecommunications equipment with Chinese companies operating in the Russian market. According to him, contracts with such customers as China Unicom will immediately launch the business on a large scale, and bring significant quantities of equipment to Russia.

Together with telecommunications and IT equipment, user devices - smartphones, laptops and desktops - will be supplied to Russia under the same brand. As Alexey Ivantsov told TAdviser, the company did not initially plan to engage in consumer technology, but it was decided that entering the mass segment would make it possible not only to take a market share, but also to popularize the brand faster.

According to Alexei Ivantsov, digging is in talks with federal retail chains. According to his forecasts, Passion smartphones, laptops and all-in-ones can be bought in stores as early as November 2022.
