The global service NAVTEQ Traffic contains information which is renewed in real time, since March, 2011 became available in Russia. Service covers five continents - in the last quarter 2010 the NAVTEQ company started this service in six new countries of the world: Russia, Indonesia, Spain, Mexico, UAE and Republic of South Africa. Today NAVTEQ Traffic is available in 23 countries and offers the best covering in comparison with other suppliers of traffic.
No matter, whether the driver on roads of Barcelona or Moscow, one of the most loaded cities of the world goes, the information access about a current status of traffic is constantly necessary for it to select an optimal route.
NAVTEQ obtains data from a wide range of sources, including one of the largest world bases of commercial and consumer data, the operator of the largest fixed network of sensors, the base of events made on the basis of the data obtained from such bodies as police, rescue services and the road organizations and also billions of data collected for the last eight years. The unique patented technology is used for collecting, processing and information transfer about the movement.
Due to big growth of the data of GPS which are brought together from millions of mobile phones and connected with automobile and PND devices the service covering not only highways and the main roads, but also minor city roads was succeeded to offer NAVTEQ companies.

In May, 2011 Navteq started Navteq Traffic in Russia. Now detailed information on traffic became in real time available to 16.5 million to users in 3 largest cities of the country: Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg, having covered nearly 19 thousand km of roads.
According to a recent research of Frost & Sullivan, 93% of the Russian consumers are interested available in information on road traffic in real time. Own research Navteq shows that regular use of navigation aids together with data on the current traffic congestion allows drivers in Russia on average to save 18% of transit time or up to 4 days every year.
