2025: Supply Chain Management Assessment

Consulting technology company Axenix has completed a comprehensive supply chain management (SCM) assessment project for APR, one of the representatives of the Russian auto parts distribution market. The project identified opportunities to reduce inventory levels, improve service quality, reduce logistics costs and identify key levers to achieve these goals. Axenix announced this on December 25, 2025.

APR operates throughout Russia and manages complex, multi-level supply chains. The demand in the auto parts distribution segment is highly variable, and the assortment is significantly larger than many other retail categories, which creates specific challenges for management and automation. Over the past two years, the industry has undergone significant changes due to the entry into the Russian market of new automotive brands, which influenced the inventory structure, supply chain and customer expectations in terms of service level. This was a key factor in attracting Axenix's external expertise from APR.

The APR operating model required a comprehensive diagnostic approach covering both commodity flow planning processes and operational logistics. Axenix's Integrated Business Planning practice team conducted an end-to-end assessment of the current state of SCM: documented processes, identified operational "pain points," identified limitations of existing IT tools, and assessed the potential for efficiencies.

Due to the high involvement of the APR management team, it was also possible to test key hypotheses on data samples. This allowed to confirm the achievability of the targets and exclude excessive assumptions.

As a result of the assessment, APR identified significant potential for improving supply chain efficiency, including a 22% reduction in inventory levels by increasing the maturity of demand forecasting processes and changing replenishment approaches. The Axenix team has proposed a set of measures to optimize warehouse and transport logistics, which will increase the level of customer service by increasing the availability of goods and reducing the timing of orders. The implementation of these initiatives will give APR the opportunity to increase revenue while optimizing operational logistics costs.

Significant resources have been allocated by APR to prepare data, conduct interviews, and interpret results to perform comprehensive supply chain diagnostics. The APR team noted that the joint project with Axenix helped to look at the SCM operating model through the prism of external peer review. In a number of directions, APR managed to confirm its hypotheses, and in others - to get valuable insights.

APR is a recognized leader in the auto parts distribution industry, which sets standards and sets a high bar for other companies in the industry, which has become a certain challenge for us to implement such a project. The basis of the initiatives we proposed was the accumulated examination of each team member and work in the fields at the company's facilities, "said Tatyana Vaganova, a leading expert in Axenix's supply chain management practice.

The companies are planning a partnership in the field of automation and reengineering of business processes. The next step in the collaboration will be prototyping proposed initiatives, such as optimizing inventory and improving forecasting accuracy.
