2025: Installation of Eltex ME Series Routers
Eltex implemented a project for PJSC Rosseti Siberia. The domestic vendor has modernized the enterprise's MPLS backbone network. The transport infrastructure is based on Eltex ME series backbone routers. Eltex announced this on January 27, 2026.
The joint project started in 2022, during the period of active revision of approaches to building a network infrastructure for large distributed companies. For Rosseti Siberia, which operates thousands of facilities of the electric grid complex in Siberia, the key task was to replace foreign equipment that has lost support without reducing the reliability of the existing network.
Eltex offered an architectural solution based on ME5100S and ME5200S backbone routers with hardware traffic processing and support for a full stack of MPLS functions. This made it possible to build a managed transport network with the ability to control traffic routes, bandwidth reservation and fault tolerance.
The implementation of the equipment was carried out in stages, in the existing infrastructure. At all stages of the project, the full availability of corporate and technological services remained. This was a critical condition for the power grid, providing employment for millions of households.
| This collaboration has become an important engineering experience for us. We received substantive feedback from the Rosseti Siberia team. Thanks to this, I improved the functionality of ME and improved the product as a whole. Such projects not only solve the customer's problems - they allow us to grow as a manufacturer, - said Vladimir Malofeev, head of the sales department of the broadband access. |
As a result of the implementation, the customer received a noticeable increase in the productivity and stability of the transport network. On a number of channels, throughput increased from 100 Mbps to 2 Gbps. Imported equipment was replaced by a Russian platform with live technical support and the possibility of further development.
| The support service played a huge role, namely its constructiveness in evaluating and choosing solutions for the implementation of the required functionality, as well as efficiency in feedback and the release of the necessary software updates. There were obstacles, but thanks to our mutual desire - our and Eltex - we brought ME to industrial operation within a reasonable time and received a functional, working product, - said Mikhail Kustov, head of the telecommunications and communications group of PJSC Rosseti Siberia. |
The company's cooperation continues in other areas: the replacement of network equipment using MES switches and ESR service routers, the development of telephony, wireless solutions and the implementation of Eltex software products. In the future, we also consider upgrading the L3 core of the data center using ME backbone routers and MES switches.
