2026: Using the Ardi Robot in the Educational Process
The Perm Polytechnic is training engineers of the future on domestic humanoid robots. The university announced this on February 12, 2026.
At the Department of Automation and Telemechanics of the Perm Polytechnic University, students have the opportunity to study on a humanoid robot that can speak, gesture, change the expression "face." The educational process is built on the Ardi machine created by Promobot on the basis of the Robo-C robotic platform commissioned by Double Yu Expo.
The project is being implemented against the background of initiatives to limit the purchase of foreign educational robotics and the task of entering the top 25 countries in terms of robotization by 2030.
| The Russian industry sets itself an ambitious goal - to enter the top 25 countries in terms of robotization density. To do this, you need to increase the supply and introduction of robots by 9 times. Launching and maintaining robots requires qualified personnel. Therefore, training in robotics on domestic equipment is a strategic priority: students, working with Russian robots, adapt faster to industrial tasks and work with domestic equipment. At the same time, the study of robotics on foreign robots contributes to the introduction of imported solutions. Only an integrated approach to training and technology development will achieve the goals set, - said Maxim Chugunov, General Director of Promobot. |
Until recently, future engineers studied robotics mainly on imported samples. For the first time, the Perm Polytechnic built an educational process on a domestic platform. With the help of Ardi, students of the Autonomous Service Robots training program of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering master a whole range of disciplines: robotics, mechatronics, computer vision and neural network technologies.
The key advantage was the development of a training and methodological complex, including materials from the basic and advanced levels, as well as the SDK - a professional development toolkit with direct access to robot control at the ROS2 OS level. This allows future engineers to program not only movements and navigation, but also complex scenarios of human-machine interaction, including speech, gestures and facial expressions.
| The ability to work with anthropomorphic robotic platforms becomes an important skill, and their introduction into the educational process is a strategic step in the training of engineers of the future. This approach will help to form in future graduates of the Perm Polytechnic not only deep professional competencies, but also systemic thinking, as well as the ability to create complex technological solutions, - said Alexander Trufanov, First Vice-Rector - Vice-Rector for Informatization of PNIPU. |
