Jingyue Robotics Ice and Snow Fun Competition

.

2026: China hosts first ever robot winter games

In mid-January 2026, the first ever robot winter games were held in Jingyuetan National Park in Changchun in Jilin province in northeastern China. As part of the Jingyue Robotics Ice and Snow Fun Competition event, 25 teams from universities and various companies presented their robotic solutions.

The competition was attended by machines of different types - humanoid robots, robotic dogs with four and six legs, unusual bipedal devices, etc. There have been a number of exciting and challenging events such as sled transport, snowball throwing and skiing races.

China held the first ever winter robot competition

The event was held in difficult conditions - at a temperature of minus 20 degrees Celsius. The developers tested the stability, efficiency and endurance of the machines in a real environment. In particular, in one of the tests, a humanoid robot moved along a snow-covered surface, sitting on a sleigh: for this, it was repelled using ski poles. In another challenge, a robop pulled a sled with a load. Cars overcame icy terrain, slopes and climbs.

The main goal of the Jingyue Robotics Ice and Snow Fun Competition event was to test advanced technologies. The developers checked how electric drives, sensors, on-board electronics and robot software were able to cope with harsh operating conditions - frost and movement on slippery surfaces. The obtained results can be used to optimize the design and improve control algorithms.

In general, China is actively developing the direction of robotics. Great attention is paid to humanoid and industrial machines. One of the key areas is the integration of artificial intelligence.[1]
