The car dealer of Rolf will transfer all IT infrastructure to "cloud" of HP. The company weighed all pros and cons and thus intends to save on 10 million rubles a year in the next five years.

The Rolf Holding group, one of the largest Russian automobile dealers, made in the spring of 2011 the decision on transfer of all the infrastructure of IT to "cloud" of HP.

In an IT infrastructure translation result in private "cloud" in group expect to gain essential economic effect — the general economy from the project will make more than 50 million rubles within the next 5 years.

First of all it should happen due to lack of capital costs of the maintenance of own DPC and transfer of a number of functions on support of IT infrastructure on outsourcing in HP.

Though this solution was not given to Rolf simply. Upgrade of IT infrastructure of the company began to prepare in the middle of 2010. The project objective consisted in that, on the one hand, it is not strong to be spent, and with another – to receive the flexible and scalable modern solution.

Rolf considered technologies IaaS PaaS AaaS, the services provided by the leading data providers of types. Won against HP the two-stage tender. "It was necessary to break own stereotypes and habits, but digits and facts are stubborn things", - the director of information technology of group was recognized Mikhail Kondratyev.

During the project complete decommissioning of own DPC and transfer of all IT infrastructure and the Rolf applications is planned for the IaaS/PaaS/AaaS model. In "cloud" of NR all business applications will be taken out, switching off ERP, portals, e-mail and other.

Rolf will use different types of the NR "cloud" service for achievement of the most optimal and effective combination. A number of applications, in the main Development & Test will be migrated on the IaaS platform, applications in commercial operation will be based generally on PaaS with the high SLA provided to NR. For example, such as e-mail, Rolf will receive some applications in the form of service (AaaS/SaaS).

The CEO of NR in Russia Alexander Mikoyan emphasized that it is the first large project such in the Russian market. "Up to this point still any big company in Russia did not transfer to "cloud" infrastructure of third-party provider all the IT", - he explained.

On June 20, 2012 the HP company announced project completion with ROLF group within which migration of IT infrastructure of the customer in hybrid cloud infrastructure of NR was successfully executed. The ROLF group, one of the largest automobile holdings in the Russian Federation, has a continued access to services and applications now, paying only really consumed resources that allows to increase business performance, to release resources and to reduce IT infrastructure housekeeping overheads.

"For us there was a big call the fact that transfer of IT infrastructure of the ROLF Group in a hybrid cloud of NR became the first and at the moment the only successfully completed project of such scale in all Russia — Artem Pletnev, the director of operating activities of IT department of the ROLF Group comments. — Behind "clouds" NR is stood by well worked architecture and a maturity of processes which provide stability, performance and flexibility to changes. The ROLF group was always a supporter of job specialization between professionals, and in this case our specialists are engaged in support of core business on sale and service of cars while experts of NR provide" cloud" high-quality services".

The applications which were earlier working on 150 servers in DPC of the ROLF Group were transferred to the hybrid cloud unrolled in data center of HP in Germany. The hybrid cloud solution of NR allows the ROLF Group to connect quickly new services, to accurately control expenses on IT and if necessary to change the volume of the used IT resources. IT services under new projects are ordered now according to the directory in which the prices for processor capacities of servers and gigabytes of data storage are specified. At the end of each reporting period of ROLF receives itemized accounts for the used IT resources of a hybrid cloud with indication of all involved systems, tanks of storage systems and backup and also quantity of mailboxes. Besides, HP provides every month to the ROLF Group the report on agreement performance on the level of provision of services (SLA).

As a result, the ROLF Group got rid of need to sign several service contracts of the different systems within the IT infrastructure as all service of "a hybrid cloud" provides HP. Besides, the highly skilled IT specialists of ROLF who are earlier servicing these systems are reoriented on accomplishment of other projects now, and need for a personnel increase of IT department actually disappeared. ROLF could also take an obsolete equipment of servers and storage systems out of service and to free the premises which was occupied earlier by its corporate DPC. Process of migration of applications and services took about six months, and now the security system of HP and internal processes work perfectly. Areas of responsibility of HP and ROLF are differentiated, access rights to applications and data are strictly defined, and the turned-out infrastructure conforms to requirements of the current edition of the federal law on personal data protection.

In DPC of HP are applied to service of a hybrid cloud of the ROLF Group as physical servers on which heavy productional applications, and virtual servers used for other applications and for testing work. The failsafe architecture of channels of data provided uninterrupted access of ROLF to the services and applications transferred to a cloud. Among them, including, and a system Microsoft Exchange which services are provided to the customer on the Software as a Service model (SaaS) now, ERP systems SAP as well as 1C. Further plans for development of this project assume transfer to the Platform as a Service (PAAS) model of the databases Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and some other applications.
