RusHydro connected a cascade of the Kuban HEPS by a data network

The IT company completed the project of creation engineering and IT infrastructures at nine stations of the Cascade of the Kuban HEPS of JSC RusHydro.

JSC RusHydro expands the corporate data network integrating the central office and more than 20 branches. Creation of centralized operation by IT infrastructure of all objects of RusHydro goes consistently: from the central office to the branches, large hydroelectric power stations and cascades of the HEPS located in an area of responsibility of branches.

Based on tender accomplishment of this project of JSC RusHydro charged IT company.

Implementation

On the Cascade of the Kuban HEPS the project was begun in the middle of 2009. So far at each IT station created the complex infrastructure including the following subsystems:

• structured cabling system of ITSCS
• cable network of the selected power supply
• local computer network based on active equipment of Cisco
• information security system
• WiFi wireless access points.

Details

The complexity of the project consisted in considerable dispersion of objects and remoteness of hydroelectric power stations from branch in Nevinnomyssk of Stavropol Krai, up to 100 km. For operating control of a condition of equipment using mobile technologies it is necessary to cover open distributors network of wireless access.

The IT connected by a uniform corporate data network more than 400 jobs of employees of the Cascade of the Kuban HEPS, installed more than 630 SCS ports and laid totally about 5 km. the optical cable for communication in stations.

Results

As a result of project implementation the central office and regional branch RusHydro received the management tool IT infrastructure of remote stations. Interaction of all divisions of power holding improved. All Kuban hydroelectric power stations reached works with corporate information qualitatively new level: now the general IT resources are available to personnel.

It is the first project on accession of stations of the bottom level to the general corporate network of holding. The complete solution facilitating communications between divisions and providing efficiency of centralized operation with IT infrastructure of objects of holding at all levels is as a result created.

Garald Bandurin, the CIO of JSC RusHydro so commented on project results: "Connection of the remote stations of the Cascade of the Kuban HEPS to the existing corporate data network is a logical step on building of the general information structure of holding and centralized operation by the generating objects in regions. The staff of hydroelectric power stations already in practice estimated new opportunities for work in unified information environment".
