In 1997 America Online started the search server under the name AOL NetFind. At that time AOL NetFind used Excite. In the middle of 1999 America Online will use Inktomi as supplier of search results. Later AOL announced a new search server of AOL Search. Now AOL uses different technologies to increase relevance of search results. On pages of the help of AOL there is information that their search server carries out search more than 150 million pages. But this digit became already outdated since only the Inktomi database contains much more the indexed pages. AOL also a beret results from ODP the database of which contains more than 2 million pages. AOL has partnership agreements in 10 countries. But AOL Search has no regional departments anywhere.
