Alexey Budin: Many draw processes. We improve.

The concept of ECM assumes much deeper business process automation of the company, than standard electronic document management systems. How the solution ELMA works at a joint of ECM and BPM, TAdviser was toldby Alexey Budin, the CEO of the company of the same name.

TAdviser: Alexey, tell, than your company is engaged?


Alexey Budin: In 2006 the project "ELMA started: Business Process Management Suite" which is a flagship product of the company today. In the conditions of constantly changing rules of the game in the modern market, the growing competition and rapid information technology development it becomes more difficult to manage the company of any scale. The electronic assistant who the ELMA system is is necessary for the head. It allows to pass from instructions to automatic exercise and control of processes and to manage efficiency of activity of the company, and the mechanism of permanent improvement of processes allows to develop management model in the company directly on a work progress.

A system consists of packets. The main packet of ECM+ contains conventional processes of document flow and helps to adjust the movement of documents and operating activities of the company. For effective implementation of end-to-end processes we released packets of CRM+ and Projects +. The product ELMA KPI helps to manage efficiency and organizational development of the company.

Our task - to squeeze out a maximum of the computer for simplification of work of the head and cutting of costs for company management.

TAdviser: Who your main target audience? For what companies of scale and industry accessory, first of all, your services are intended?

Alexey Budin: BPM as managerial methodology is interesting to the companies of any industry regardless of scale. It is connected with the fact that competitive advantages more are defined by business models, but not production of new goods and services. Often the wheel of the company has an owner who has a requirement, powers and desire to constantly improve activity of the company. And it needs the effective tool for operational management of a company performance. And in modern conditions of constantly changing rules of the game in the market this control lever should be not only the most effective, but also flexible. Therefore systems which will allow to control, measure, and, above all, constantly to improve activity of staff of the company and company in general, will be extremely demanded in this market.

TAdviser: What criteria should be considered when choosing the BPM solution?

Alexey Budin: Use of a BPM system becomes especially effective at integration with the ERP system (or is more often systems) the companies. Distribution of duties very simple: An ERP system contains the facts (or data), BPMS contains processes and in certain steps of the performed process addresses the facts (this) in the ERP system. It is clear, that for close integration of BPMS and the ERP system should "be on friendly terms" with each other. For closer friendship BPMS should be able "talk" in the terms ERP systems – to be able to work with objects and reference books of a system directly from a BPM system context (such approach we used about design of the module of integration of a system "ELMA: Business process management" and 1C: Enterprise systems). Therefore the fast effect of system implementation and compatibility with the ERP system of the enterprise should be the main selection terms of a system, from my point of view.

TAdviser: Customers from different sectors of the market are how ready (a public sector, large business, SMB and other) not only to automate document flow, but also to be engaged in business process management?

Alexey Budin: It is possible to tell more – very few people consider for purchase now "net EDMS". And it is correct because needs of nature – to have one system which closes also traditional problems of EDMS, and allows to manage flexibly processes of the company (it is a class of BPM systems which contain the functionality which is going beyond traditional workflow, docflow).

On the other hand, the "net" BPM systems sin with the fact that they absolutely abstract from a concept the electronic document, and it forces or to go for expensive integration, or "invent" in the EDMS BPM system. Therefore it is quite natural that an ideal system that which gives good functionality both in the field of EDMS and in the field of BPM is represented – i.e. allows to close completely current demands of the modern dynamic company.

TAdviser: Whether additional opportunities of ECM, such how integration into portals, mobility, cloud solutions are demanded?

Alexey Budin: From three listed opportunities of the most important the mobility is represented. A system should give the tool for decision-making. And the more convenient for the consumer a system will make it, the more it the good fellow. And as near at hand even more often only the tablet and the smartphone, and decision-making moves to these devices. The ELMA for iPad application allows to ensure full-fledged convenient work with the ELMA system from the iPad tablet computers and to save up to 30% of working time on the way.

TAdviser: How the attitude to BPM in Russia in recent years was changed? What you see further development of this approach in the domestic market? What trends define its development?

Alexey Budin: Before our eyes BPM as a set of managerial acceptances passes from a stage of fine is far in a stage of the effective present. This managerial methodology is clear, simple, effective. Along with emergence of stable interest in BPM as to methodology there are also software tools (this class of software products carries the name BPMS - BPM System), which allow to facilitate its embodiment in life.

Top trend of development of this direction, in my opinion, is transition from the description of business processes to business process management. It involves change of focus of interest of customers from tools for creation of models (of which work the shot glass of paper often is result) to tools which allow to manage effectively processes (I understand sale of mechanisms of control, measurement and improvement of business processes as management of business process).

One more of trends of development of the systems of the class BPMS is "simplification" of systems from "correct" to "fast and effective". Pareto's rule (20% of actions yield 80% of result) as well as possible is suitable for BPM systems: make at first the basic, start quickly in work, measure, then improve. A modern BPMS system, in my opinion, should be able to give "fast" effect. In the ELMA system the improvement mechanism which can be started directly on a work progress is put. And for this purpose it is not necessary to involve expensive technical specialists.
