2022: Rising number of migrant workers from Morocco

The riots in Belgium involving the Moroccans on the occasion of the victory of their football team are not the first time. In November 2017, when the national team left the group at the 2018 World Cup, 300 fans staged similar pogroms.

As of 2022, the share of Moroccans among labor immigrants in Belgium of 12 million is almost the largest. According to various estimates, their number reaches half a million people. 150 thousand migrants from northern Africa are illegal immigrants. In 2022 [1] alone, 100,000 migrants arrived in the country, most of whom settled in Brussels.

Not all of the new arrivals immediately acquire a connection with the new Motherland. So, in November 2022, football pogroms involving Moroccan migrants took place in Brussels, who decided to loudly celebrate the victory of their team over Belgium by beating shop windows and burning tires when the Belgian team lost to the Moroccan team at the World Cup with a score of 0:2.
