Expenses of Russians on car service services for the year increased by 17.2% to ₽600,7 billion
The total volume of car service services provided to the population of Russia in 2024 amounted to ₽600,7 billion, which is 17.2% more than in 2023. The average cost of Russians for maintenance and repair of cars increased to ₽4 111 per person, which is 2.3 times more than in 2017. AnalyticResearchGroup's research data was published in August 2025.
According to analysts, the Russian car service market has been showing steady positive dynamics for a long period. Over the three decades from 1994 to 2024, the average annual growth rate of the market was 26.6%, which indicates the stable development of the industry.
In the first quarter of 2025, the volume of car service services provided already exceeded ₽155 billion. Analysts predict the market will continue to grow throughout the year with an increase of almost 20% compared to 2024. The total volume of services is expected to reach about ₽718 billion by the end of 2025.
One of the key factors in the growth of demand for car service services was the aging of the Russian fleet. The average age of cars owned by citizens in 2024 increased to 11.5 years, which exceeds the indicators of previous periods.
Increasing the age of vehicles directly affects the need for maintenance and repair. Older cars require more frequent and expensive maintenance, which stimulates the growth of the car service market.
The dynamics of consumption of car service services per capita shows a significant increase in citizens' spending on car maintenance. The increase in individual spending by 17.3% in 2024 reflects both inflationary processes and the complication of maintenance of modern cars.[1]
The volume of the Russian passenger car service market reached ₽1 trillion
The volume of the car services market for passenger cars in Russia in 2024 reached ₽1 trillion. These data were presented by the analytical agency Avtostat in January 2025. The total amount includes services for maintenance, repair, car wash, tire assembly and body work, covering statistics from 69 Russian regions, where 97% of the country's car fleet is concentrated.
According to Avtostat, the most significant contribution to the market structure was made by maintenance and repair services, the total volume of which amounted to ₽594,2 billion. Of these, official dealers provided only 8% of the market (₽47,3 billion), while independent service stations (service stations) accounted for 38% (₽225,3 billion). The remaining 54% were services performed by car owners or private mechanics, the volume of which is estimated at ₽321,6 billion.
The segment of highly specialized services such as car washes, tire fitting and body repair also took a significant share. In 2024, the volume of the car wash market amounted to ₽177,7 billion, tire fitting - ₽39,7 billion, and body repair - ₽190,8 billion.
Agency experts distinguish a significant dependence of the market on geographical features. The main data for the analysis were collected from large cities such as Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as from regions with high fleet saturation rates.
In addition, the research methodology took into account the preferences of car owners to choose car services. According to the results of surveys conducted in 2024, a significant part of motorists prefer independent service stations, including points of narrow specialization.
Analysts also noted an increase in market potential associated with an increase in the number of cars in warranty service. The average volume of services sold per official dealer for a separate brand was calculated without taking into account the cost of spare parts and consumables, which made it possible to more accurately assess the economic efficiency of the segment.[2]
