Cloud Infrastructure (EMEA Market)

.

First quarter 2015 g

On July 13, 2015, IDC analysts published some of the results of the EMEA cloud infrastructure market research. Sales in the region jumped 16%, and the contribution of the CEMA subregion (Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa) decreased due to Russia.

According to experts, in the first quarter of 2015 at EMEA, vendors sold servers, disk storage and routers designed to launch and maintain cloud services, totaling $1.01 billion, compared to $875.6 million a year earlier. Recorded revenue corresponds to 19% of total regional investments in IT infrastructure, which is 2 percentage points more compared to January-March 2014. In terms of storage capacity, the cloud segment accounted for 33% of investments in these solutions across the IT market.

In the European currency, sales of cloud equipment in EMEA countries increased by 41% in the first three months of 2015 compared to the same period a year ago - up to 900 million euros. The difference in the growth rates of the market in dollars and euros is associated with a fall in the exchange rate of the European currency against the US.

The share of CEMA countries in the cloud infrastructure market in EMEA was 14% in the starting calendar quarter of 2015, while a year earlier this share indicator was measured at 17%. The main reasons for this regression are weak sales in the public cloud segment and macroeconomic difficulties in Russia. At the same time, experts did not specify either the size of sales of cloud equipment, or the dynamics of their change in our country.

"Meanwhile, the private cloud market has seen increased investment from both the private business and the public sector, as many IT directors realize the benefits of the high flexibility that cloud technology provides," said Jiri Helebrand, IDC Research Manager at CEMA.

According to analysts for the first quarter of 2015, sales of cloud infrastructures in CEMA are estimated at 11% of the total implementation of servers, disk storage and routers of the corresponding purpose in EMEA. In the public cloud segment, this share is 40%.[1]
