2020: PC and x86 server shipments in 2020 increased by 25.3% in monetary terms and by 34.1% in unit terms
On July 7, 2021, the company IDC shared the results of shipments of PCs servers and standard h86 architecture countries CIS in 2020 in the annual study of the Commonwealth of Independent States Personal Computing 2021-2025 Forecast and 2020 Vendor Shares.
The study covers the market of a number of CIS countries, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, as well as Georgia and Moldova.
In general, despite the difficult situation with PC components and disruptions in the supply chains, the supply of PCs and x86 servers in 2020 increased year-on-year by 25.3% in monetary terms and by 34.1% in piece terms. This growth has been driven more by significantly increased procurement into the educational and public sectors of the market. In addition, the growth of supplies was influenced by contracted obligations under national development programs in many CIS countries.
In most countries, there has been a slight increase in national PC manufacturers due to successful pricing policies and increased delivery times for equipment from abroad.
In 2021-2022, vendors of PCs, servers and components will experience significant supply difficulties due to a global shortage of components and delays in production at assembly. As of July 2021, the main world factories producing electronic components are fully loaded with orders and cannot sharply increase production.
IDC predicts no significant growth in the supply of x86 PCs and servers to the CIS countries in 2021 - from -1.5% to + 1% year-on-year. The exception will be Kazakhstan (growth of 4.7% year-on-year in piece terms) and Kyrgyzstan (10.8% year-on-year), which will be provided by state purchases and grants from the Asian Development Bank.
PC markets in the CIS, Georgia and Moldova vary greatly based on the current economic situation and prospects for the development of the economy and digital society in each individual country, "comments Dmitry Ilyin, senior analyst at IDC Russia and the CIS. - In general, we will see a return to a steady increase in PC supplies to the CIS countries starting in 2023-2024. |
