2019: The place of the region on the card of export of computer devices
2015: The worst result in the history: 13.7 million pieces (-26%)
On March 11, 2016 analysts of IDC announced the next drop in sales of personal computers in Central and Eastern Europe. This time it is about the worst indicators in the history.
According to experts, in 2015 vendors shipped in the region 13.7 million desktops and notebooks that is 26.2% less, than the previous year. So low volume never was, and recession in 2015 was the third in a row.
The volume of a consumer PC segment in Central and Eastern Europe in 2015 was reduced by 27.6% in many respects because the large supplies of the cheap laptops created within the program of subsidizing Windows 8.1 with Bing which accumulated at the end of the 2014th year prevented sales of new products.
In the corporate sector regional shipments of the PC decreased slightly less — by 23.9%. Here specialists explain negative dynamics with reduction of IT budgets and strong 2014 when the companies actively updated the equipment after the termination of official support of Windows XP.
IDC note that the adverse economic situation caused by drop in oil prices and currency fluctuations creates additional premises for growth of economic instability in the countries of the East European subregion, especially in Russia and the CIS countries.
In 2016, as expected, recession will weaken — the analyst of IDC Nikolina Jurisic says. — The current economic situation in east subregion will remain a restraining factor in the near future, however improvement of a situation with stocks of goods and stabler economic situation in the central part of the region will allow to compensate recession a little. |
The largest suppliers of personal computers to Eastern Europe analysts call the companies Lenovo, HP and ASUS which joint share in 2015 made 56.5% against 51.9% the previous year. On the volume of shipments of systems to corporate clients HP is in the lead.[1]
2011: 25 million devices (+7.5%) for $16.64 billion (+3.1%)
According to Research Firm IDC, the PC market in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE region) in 2011 grew in quantitative expression by 7.5% and in monetary for 3.1%. Its volume was about 25 million devices with a total cost of $16.64 billion, and two thirds of deliveries are the share of portable PCs. In 2012 IDC predicts growth of the market of notebooks at the level of two-digit digits whereas the segment of the PC increases only by units of percent.
The decrease in a share of desktop PCs which is observed in the last several years in a total amount of the market is caused not only the changing preferences of consumers, but also more long turnover cycle of the PC park in comparison with other hardware – Zoltan Komaromi, the project manager of CEE IT Buyer's Pulse is sure. Really, the intermediate-term cycle makes 4.1 years, and some large companies replace the PC only once in 7 years and less often.
The observed deficit of hard drives in the fourth quarter led 2011 to increase in prices for the PC and shift of preferences of buyers towards models of initial level. However in the end of the year of delivery quickened, and deceleration of growth rates of the market did not happen. Nevertheless, SEE will be able finally to be recovered after interruptions in deliveries of components the market in the region not earlier than the end of 2012 – Stefanie Lorentz, the director of research of IDC considers.
The three of leading manufacturers of desktop PCs in 2011 is made by HP, Dell and Lenovo. Only NR from its market shares was succeeded to overcome a mark of 10% whereas all other vendors did not manage to reach even a point of 5%. In a counterbalance the segment of portable PCs is much more consolidated, his leading players together occupy with ASUS, Acer and HP 54% of the market.
The share of netbooks in a segment of portable PCs during 2012 will gradually decrease. The reason for that market saturation, the growing price competition with traditional notebooks and the growing demand for thin PCs and media tablets. Ultrathin notebooks (or ultrabooks) which appeared in SEE region towards the end of 2011, will gradually create the price pressure upon traditional ultraportable mobile PCs.
