2022: Contrast Injectors Market Growth by 7.1% to $1.5 Billion
In 2022, the global market for contrast media injectors reached approximately $1.5 billion. This is 7.1% more than in the previous year, when costs were estimated at $1.4 billion. Such data in mid-January 2023 are given in the Digital Journal study.
The introduction of contrast agents into the bloodstream of patients allows the visualization of various pathologies using X-rays,, and computed tomography (CT) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) other medical imaging methods. This improves the accuracy and effectiveness of diagnoses in a wide variety of fields, including cardiovascular disease, malignant, formations physical injury and digestive disorders. So the demand for contrast injectors around the world continues to grow.
The authors of the study believe that by 2032 the global market for accurate injection of contrast agents will reach $3.1 billion. Thus, the CAGR (compound percentage CAGR) over a ten-year period is expected to be 7.4%. Analysts call radiology the dominant field of application of contrast injectors with a CAGR of about 7.8% until 2032.
The US market is estimated at $1.1 billion with a CAGR of 6.8% from 2022 to 2032. This can be explained by the presence of a developed health infrastructure and the prevalence of chronic diseases. It is expected that in terms of the introduction of contrast injectors, diagnostic imaging centers will continue to lead with a CAGR value of 7.1%. This is due to the growing number of cases of cancer and cardiovascular disease. In addition, advances in the development of simple, efficient and reliable solutions contribute to market expansion.[1]
2019: Contrast Injectors Market Reaches $1.3 Billion
The volume of the global market for injection systems for the introduction of contrast agents in 2019 reached $1.3 billion, according to data from the analytical company MarketsandMarkets. Experts did not specify the dynamics regarding 2018 and only noted that sales of such devices are growing and will continue to increase at an average rate of about 6.1% per year.
Experts consider the main catalysts for the rise of this market:
- the growing number of cancer and cardiovascular diseases;
- a large number of permits for contrast agents;
- increasing investments, the number of grants and state support in the market.
At the same time, the high cost of such products, consumables and accessories for the contrast injectors market is considered a deterrent. It is consumables that account for most of the revenue in the market, which is associated with safety and hygiene requirements during diagnostic procedures, each of which needs a new consumable.
Depending on the application, contrast injectors are divided into solutions designed for radiology, interventional radiology and interventional cardiology. In 2019, the interventional cardiology segment showed the highest growth rates due to the increasing incidence of cardiovascular ailments in the population.
Most contract injectors are used in hospitals, least in diagnostic centers for medical imaging. Experts attribute the leadership of the hospital to their active desire for digitalization and automation.
According to analysts, the following manufacturers are among the leaders in the global market for contrast injectors (their shares are not indicated):
- Imaxeon Pty;
- Nemoto Kyorindo;
- Guerbet;
- Bracco Imaging;
- Ulrich GmbH & Co;
- Sino Medical-Device Technology.[2]
2015: Up to $830 million
In early May 2016, the analytical and consulting company GlobalData published the results of a study of the global market for injection systems for the introduction of contrast agents. He was predicted to grow twice by 2022.
According to experts, in 2015, sales of contrast injectors reached $830 million. The largest and fastest growing segment of this market are computed tomography (CT) solutions. Their implementation in the period from 2016 to 2022 will grow by an average of 12.3% annually, while the volume of the global market for injection systems - by 11% during this period and will amount to almost $1.8 billion.
The GlobalData study says that sales of contrast injectors are growing due to an increase in the number of examinations using computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and angiography, as well as due to the complication of diseases and the growing use of injection systems in principle.
GlobalData analyst Sarah Janer notes that contrast injectors usually come with CT scanners, while in the case of magnetic resonance imaging devices, they are sold separately.
Single-bulb injectors occupy most of the contrast injection systems market due to their low cost, making such products more attractive to emerging economies and hospitals with tight funding budgets. At the same time, analysts predict high growth in sales of two-bulb injectors, as medical institutions seek to use more efficient equipment to reduce costs.[3]
