37 million diseases per day - the largest outbreak in the world

China's top government health authority estimates that a surge in Covid-19 infects 37 million people a day, making the country's outbreak the largest in the world.

Up to 248 million people, or almost 18% of the population, are likely to have contracted the virus in the first 20 days of December 2022. If the data turns out to be accurate, the infection rate will surpass the previous daily record of 4 million set in January 2022.

The rapid elimination of Beijing Covid Zero restrictions has led to the unhindered spread of extremely contagious omicron variants among populations with low levels of natural immunity. The agency estimates that more than half of residents of Sichuan province in southwestern China and the capital Beijing are infected.

Strongest protests since 1989 over COVID-19 restrictions

To this is added total tracking, mandatory testing, segregation of the population in three levels of danger, forced reservation inside houses, up to brewing doors. This practice extends more widely to a forced reservation in "sanitary/quarantine camps," similar more to prisons, where people are placed in capsules with total surveillance.

In 2020, China became the unconditional beneficiary of the COVID crisis, because it became the only major country that by the end of 2022 has a more significant accumulated growth since 2019 than the leading countries of the West.

• Almost 90% of cases are asymptomatic, or with mild symptoms of ordinary seasonal ARVI.

New restrictions in cities

In October 2022, in some Chinese cities, lockdowns and restrictive measures are again introduced in connection with the outbreak of the incidence of coronavirus COVID-19 after the celebration of the PRC Education Day. 17.5 million Shenzhen residents isolated to fight COVID-19
