2023: Cryostimulation has proven to be an effective way to treat obesity
On May 17, 2023, the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO) released the results of a work that assessed the impact of cryostimulation on the condition of people suffering. overweight
The study involved 29 obese people - 12 men and 17 women whose body mass index exceeded 30. They were included in a special rehabilitation program providing an individual diet plan, psychological support and physical activity under supervision. The patients were divided into two groups: some underwent ten two-minute procedures in the cryocamber at a temperature of minus 110 degrees Celsius for two weeks, while others were exposed to a temperature of minus 55 degrees. During the sessions, the participants had a minimum of clothes - only a T-shirt and shorts. They removed glasses, contact lenses and decorations before entering the cryocamera. In addition, voice and visual communication was constantly maintained with patients.
The findings suggest that cryostimulation of the whole organism contributes to lowering triglycerides, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels. Moreover, the drop in indicators was twice as significant for participants from the first group who were exposed to temperatures of minus 110 degrees. Moreover, such therapy helped reduce diastolic blood pressure and blood glucose levels. There was a reduction in waist size and an improvement in physical strength.
Cryostimulation also increases the activity of the parasympathetic nervous system - this, according to scientists, has potential short-term and long-term benefits for the health of patients. In general, the results of the work indicate that exposure to low temperatures has a positive effect in the treatment of obesity.[1]
