2024: The volume of the customs brokers market in Russia for the year increased by 12.7% and reached ₽52,9 billion
The Russian market for customs brokers in 2024 increased by 12.7% compared to 2023 and amounted to ₽52,9 billion. The recovery of the industry came after a significant decline in 2023, when the market volume fell to ₽46,9 billion. Data from the study of Gidmarket was published on August 21, 2025.
According to analysts, the dynamics of the customs brokers market in recent years has shown significant fluctuations associated with changes in Russia's foreign economic activity and the influence of external factors. The industry went through periods of sharp decline and subsequent recovery.
The most difficult year for the industry was 2020, when the coronavirus pandemic and the economic crisis led to a 14% market contraction at current prices to ₽36,2 billion. In comparable prices, the drop was 18.2%, the biggest test for the industry in the period under review.
The recovery began in 2021, when the market volume reached a record level of ₽50,4 billion at that time, showing an increase of more than 39% in current prices. The increase in demand for the services of customs representatives was due to the recovery of international commodity flows after pandemic restrictions.
In 2022, the market continued its formal growth, reaching a peak of ₽55,0 billion with an increase of 9%. However, this growth was mainly driven by an increase in prices for services, while in comparable prices the industry showed a decrease of 2.4%.
A significant drop occurred in 2023, when the market volume decreased to ₽46,9 billion, which corresponds to a decrease of 14.6% in current prices and 21.6% in comparable prices. The decrease was due to the impact of sanctions pressure on foreign economic activity.[1]
