2022: Multi-day system failure

In January 2022, the operation of the digital Caribbean dollar system DCach, used by seven Caribbean countries, stopped. The system has been down since January 14th. The East Caribbean Central Bank is working on recovery.

The project did not leave the "pilot" phase, but it has already been launched in Dominica, Montserrat, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Antigua and Barbuda.

2021: Bitt System Launch

The East Caribbean Central Bank launched an electronic version of the local dollar in March 2021. DCash became the first official digital currency. The Barbadian company Bitt is responsible for the operation of the system.
