DOD

DOD (Department of Defence) is a network model, like OSI, describing structure of data transmission from one application to another. It was developed by the U.S. Government for development of own network infrastructure. The DOD model consists of four levels — the level of the network interface (Network Access) corresponding to the first two levels of the OSI model, the internetwork level (internet) corresponding to Network to the level of the OSI model, the transport layer (Host-to-Host), corresponding to Transport to the level of the OSI model and the level of applications (Process/Application) corresponding to three top levels of the OSI model.
