Dark data and dark analytics of Dark Analytics

Dark analytics (Dark Analytics) - clearing up the deposits of valuable information which are stored in unstructured data.

In 2017 Deloitte entered "dark analytics" to number of perspective technologies in the eighth annual report "Technology trends of 2017: Mobile enterprise".

By some estimates, for the beginning of 2017 about 80% of data at the enterprise fall under category of "dark". At least, the senior vice president of IBM John Kelly so considers. In technical circles at this time he is considered to be "father" of intellectual service of the analysis and data visualization of Watson Analytics.

To "dark" it is possible to carry and the relational data taken from SQL databases — they give in to the careful analysis, but they can not always be used as help in operating activities of the company. It is even less advantage of information which disappears in e-mail messages, corporate agreements, materials of the presentations and other "crude" text documents. Photo, audio-and video files — other data array which can be a valuable source to information, and, therefore, the ideas for business of the company.

For the beginning of 2017 it is impossible to tell that extraction of valuable material from "dark" data is delivered on a flow. Highly qualified specialists in the field of neural networks and other technologies who allow to analyze looks, a mimicry and reaction of users to these or those objects according to video and a photo are engaged in such activity. The effective analysis of the image could arm retailers with a powerful tool of forecasting of new trends in a fashion and, respectively, timely update clothes lines.

The analysis of "crude" data could be useful also to venture capitalists. With its help it is possible to gain more faithful representation how it is better to dispose of investments and that will be "a new big thing". Specially trained programs of the audioanalysis will be able to reveal failures in work of factory lines, industrial equipment or the heavy construction equipment.
