2025: Data centers for cryptocurrency mining already use 5% of energy in Georgia
Electricity consumption by industrial data centers in Georgia is growing at a rapid pace - data centers are mainly engaged in mining cryptocurrencies and are located in the free industrial zones of Tbilisi and Kutaisi. The volume of production of companies engaged in activities in 2025 tripled to 617 million kilowatt-hours from January to October 2025. This accounts for 5% of the country's total electricity consumption - the situation is becoming critical. This is evidenced by the statistics presented to the SEC in December 2025.[1]
