Day of the Internet

Day of the Internet - the holiday mentioned in some countries on September 30 and authorized by the Father John Paul II in 1998.

The international Day of the Internet was tried to be entered several times, offering different dates, however any of them did not get accustomed. In Russia the holiday is celebrated on September 30. This day the IT Infoart Stars company suggested firms and the organizations to perform a population census of Runet and to approve own date of a holiday.

From the moment of carrying out the first census the number of Internet users in Russia grew up by 40 times and now is about 40 million or 28.6% of the total number of Russians.

It should be noted that in many countries the holiday of Network is celebrated on April 4, in day St. Isidor, the medieval archbishop of Seville. Seville, created the multivolume encyclopedia of human knowledge, many consider the patron of the Internet. Besides, a birthday of the Internet can be considered on May 17. This day in 1991 the project of Worldwide network (World Wide Web) was submitted.

It is remarkable that, in addition to Day of the Internet, the international community celebrates the International day without the Internet. On January 27 every year inhabitants of our planet are offered to refuse net surfing.
