2020: In Beijing schools, students are given smart bracelets to control temperature
In mid-May 2020, it became known that in Beijing schools, high school students are given smart bracelets to control temperature. It is assumed that these measures will help avoid large-scale outbreaks of coronavirus infection COVID-19.
As schoolchildren and teachers return to educational institutions after the pandemic, Beijing authorities have begun to introduce wearable smart technologies that will help contain the new spread of COVID-19. Testing of the technology is carried out at Beijing Fengtai High School. High school students resumed classes on April 27, 2020 and at the same time received smart bracelets that monitor body temperature in real time. In addition, an additional temperature check is carried out twice a day for all students and teachers.
Temperature statistics collected by bracelets are downloaded to smartphone applications via Bluetooth. Specialists from the school will have access to this service, who may not let schoolchildren with fever enter the territory of the educational institution, as well as call doctors if necessary. The measures are expected to allow pupils to focus on their studies and prepare well for exams without being distracted by constant temperature checks.
If smart bracelets successfully pass probation, the Beijing Education Commission is poised to expand the use of "smart temperature monitors" to all final-year students and their teachers in major areas of the city, including Dongcheng, Xicheng, Fengtai and Daxing. Subsequently, the technology will be distributed to other areas of the city, and then to the whole country. The authorities China seek to reassure citizens and help them return to normal life as soon as possible, and the introduction of smart bracelets can help in this.[1]
