2024: Global Electrotherapy Devices Market Size Reaches $2.08 Billion for the Year

At the end of 2024, the costs on the global market for electrotherapy devices amounted to $2.08 billion. For comparison, a year earlier, the volume of this segment was estimated at $1.92 billion. Thus, an increase of about 8% was recorded, as stated in the Market Research Future review, published in early July 2025.

Electrotherapy is one of the most common methods of physiotherapy. It is based on the effect on the human body of magnetic and electromagnetic fields, direct or pulsed electric current of various frequencies. Thus, devices for low-frequency electrotherapy are used to treat pain, rehabilitation after injuries and operations, as well as to relieve inflammatory phenomena. Devices for mid-frequency therapy are used in chronic diseases, including to eliminate muscle spasms. High-frequency therapy promotes the treatment of various chronic inflammatory diseases, accelerates tissue regeneration and suppresses pain syndromes. In general, electrotherapy devices help in the treatment of many common diseases, which include hypertension, atherosclerosis of vessels in the initial stage, angina pectoris, disorders of the circulation of the spinal cord and brain, injuries of the peripheral nervous system.

One of the drivers of the analytics market is the growing prevalence of chronic pain disorders. Ailments such as arthritis, neuropathy and fibromyalgia affect millions of people around the world, which stimulates the demand for electrotherapy machines to help eliminate pain syndromes. An increase in sales of such equipment is also facilitated by an increase in the number of elderly people suffering from chronic diseases.

Technological advances have a positive impact on the industry. Developers are constantly improving the characteristics of electrotherapy devices and expanding their functionality, which increases the effectiveness of treatment. In particular, the integration of intelligent capabilities and support for mobile applications allow you to form personalized treatment plans and improve the user experience. In addition, there is increased awareness of the benefits of electrotherapy among both healthcare professionals and patients. The authors of the study also point to an increase in the demand for non-invasive treatments.

By scope, the market is segmented into pain management, muscle stimulation, neurological disorder control, rehabilitation, and wound healing. In 2024, the first of these areas provided $0.85 billion in revenue, the second - $0.6 billion. Another $0.4 billion fell on the therapy of neurological disorders. From a geographical point of view, North America leads with a cost of $0.84 billion. Next comes Europe with $0.54 billion, and the Asia-Pacific region closes the top three with $0.48 billion. Revenue in South America amounted to $0.14 billion, in the Middle East and Africa - $0.08 billion. The major players on a global scale are:

Market Research Future analysts believe that in the future, the CAGR in the market under consideration will be 8.28%. As a result, by 2035, sales of electrotherapy devices could increase to about $5 billion.[1]
