2019: In Russia performed operation on change of a belly aorta

On July 24, 2019 it became known that doctors of the Sechenovsky university continue to implement actively the innovation approaches in clinical practice. Thanks to them heart surgeons of University clinical hospital No. 1 executed transaction, rare for our country, and saved the patient's life.

Modern technologies of prosthetics of vessels allow to set tubes of necessary length and diameter instead of the worn-out fragment. However the frequency of contamination of synthetic prostheses reaches about 1-2% of a total quantity of patients at whom they are set. In spite of the fact that in percentage this indicator small, in absolute number of such patients is a lot of.

The man of 66 years who a few years ago underwent an operation on installation of a prosthesis of an aorta of belly department came to cardiological department of UKB No. 1 of the Sechenovsky university. At the time of the appeal to clinic any year suffered from serious suppuration of a wound on the left hip, moved hardly. As the prosthesis was made of synthetic materials, installation of other prosthesis even covered with silver, did not guarantee protection against repeated infection.

Patients with infection of a belly prosthesis are doomed to slow fading from infectious diseases. Other option is not less tragic: the patient dies of arrozivny bleeding when the blood vessel comes off, and the person loses blood in read minutes.

For rescue of the patient heart surgeons of the Sechenovsky university made the decision to transplant gomograft. The biological prosthesis of a chest aorta is already implemented in clinical practice, installation of a bioprosthesis of a belly aorta — transaction, single for our country.

In Russia gomografta are preserved in St. Petersburg. Withdraw biological fabric from the person whose cause of death not the cardiovascular disease was — an aorta and replace it to the sick person. It is not subject to infection and the subsequent rotting, the patient is restored to normal life soon.

Heart surgeons of the Sechenovsky university together with the St. Petersburg colleagues implemented new (at the time of carrying out transaction) for domestic medicine technology for change of a belly aorta from the person to the person.

We are going this practice to continue and perform operation with use of the gomograft of stream. It is labor-consuming category of patients, but for the weakened patient with sepsis is the only chance to return to full-fledged life. A part of patients can be saved using this technology — the manager of cardiac department of UKB 1 of the Sechenovsky university Roman Komarov noted.

Moreover, the Sechenovsky university develops own model of the gomograft. In the nearest future carrying out an experiment during which to a laboratory animal it will be implanted gomograft together with the aorta valve is planned. In case of success of a preclinical research, scientists will pass to the next stage — implementation of the gomograft into practice.
