Hormonal contraceptives for the solution of cosmetology problems

Hormonal contraceptives incorporate an estrogenovy component which can suppress work of sebaceous glands. Also the hlormadinona acetate (gestagen, having antiandrogenic properties) which as of 2018 prevent aging is their part and uluchshayushcht shared state of skin. Hormonal contraceptives stimulate synthesis of collagen and hyaluronic acid, stop thinning of an integument, increase the maintenance of lipids.

2018: Every third Russian of reproductive age allows acceptance of hormonal contraceptives for the solution of cosmetology problems

In September, 2018 it was announced that the Russian women (more than 1/3 from number of respondents) allow application of hormonal contraceptives not only as means for protection from undesirable pregnancy or treatment of gynecologic diseases, but also for the solution of cosmetology problems. 77% of women from among those who applied the combined oral contraceptives (COC) in the cosmetic purposes, consider them effective in treatment of an acne.

Such data contain in the second part of the All-Russian poll "The index of female health "Gideon Richter - 2018" the Hungarian pharmaceutical company Gedeon Richter. Survey of female population aged from 18 up to 45 years was conducted by the company for the third time together with the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (ARPORC).

In spite of the fact that, according to a research, only an insignificant part of women discusses cosmetology problems with the gynecologist – the doctor who appoints hormonal contraceptives (from 3 to 10% depending on a problem), their acceptance for the solution of defects of appearance assumes for itself much more. So, for elimination of pimples and an acne such medicines are ready to use 39%, for disposal of the excessive growth of hair (for example, "short moustaches" on the person) – 34%, and for prolongation of youth and active longevity – 32% of respondents. By the way, 77% of women who used medicines of hormonal contraception for the solution of cosmetology problems, problems with skin, consider them effective (9% - very effective, 68% - rather effective) in treatment of an acne.

"While Gedeon Richter started development of hormonal medicines, certain euphoria concerning their wonderful properties reigned in the world. Several decades later it became clear that we nevertheless still should invent "a youth elixir". However already today we can prove sure communication between sex hormones and a status of skin, a hair, figures, even moods. What is wanted by the woman? To remain as long as possible young and beautiful! And this that desire which is possible and it is necessary to discuss with the gynecologist in whose arsenal there are means capable not only to bring competently to the planned pregnancy, but also to help to save female beauty".

In a choice situation hormonal contraceptives among protection methods from undesirable pregnancy will be preferred by 39% of women. Their number remains almost invariable within the last three years (38% - in 2016 and 40% - in 2017). The most popular still remain condom: effective and safe for the health it is considered by 67% of respondents.

Irina Shestakova, obstetrician-gynecologist, candidate of medical sciences, associate professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive medicine of faculty of advanced training of health workers of Medical institute of RUDN:

"Today the gynecologist in addition to the "traditional" tasks corrects problems with weight, treats dirty skin, sometimes — suppressed mood. Let's say the patient with intention only to make tests on an infection comes to it. But if the doctor sees other problems — he should tell. Including about a smell from a mouth, about excess weight or to offer options of treatment of an acne".

According to a research, 59% of women have an experience of use of hormonal contraceptives. From those who accept them now:

• 78% do it for prevention of undesirable pregnancy,
• 48% - for treatment of the revealed disease and
• 6% - with other purpose.

From those women who never applied these medicines other, non-hormonal family planning method suits 46% of respondents, 40% - still are afraid of their ghost effects and 15% have no sex or have no permanent sexual partner.

"The index of female health Gideon Richter - monitoring of a situation in the field of female health of Russians, in a format of the All-Russian poll of women of reproductive age. The All-Russian survey VCIOM is conducted by request of Gideon Richter company among female population of reproductive age (18-45 years) in 2018. Poll method – telephone interview by means of a computer terminal of CATI of 1200 respondents. The principle of formation of selection is bibasic random check of stationary and mobile numbers with a quota at the last stage of selection. For this selection the maximum size of an error with the probability of 95% does not exceed 2.8%.
