IP/MPLS
IP/MPLS (Internet protocol Multiprotocol Label Switching) is the network organized based on perspective technology of multiprotocol switching of tags, is constructed on the hierarchical two-level architecture including the reference layer (core) of MPLS switching of IP traffic and a boundary layer bearing the main loading on service of subscribers and makes main "intelligence" of network.
Distinguishers
IP/MPLS differs from the standard package IP protocol in the fact that switching of traffic is based on switching of traffic in MPLS network on the special tag attached to a data packet thanks to what the principles of transmission control by traffic essentially change. The way on which traffic will be transferred on MPLS network at first decides on the help of traditional dynamic routing protocols, for example OSPF/BGP, the specialized transport tag is appropriated to each interface using the LDP protocol. This mechanism of determination of topology and distribution of tags carries the name of the managing director the MPLS components. After the topology is defined, traffic is switched in network on independent of type tags of the transferred traffic. Actually devices in MPLS network are traffic switches on tags. Superiority
Main advantages of IP/MPLS technology:
- higher advance speed of IP software packages of network due to reduction of time of processing of the routing information;
- possibility of the organization of information flows in communication channels. Using tags to each information flow (for example, bearing telephone traffic) the required class of service (CoS) can be appointed. Flows with higher CoS receive a priority before all other flows. Thus, using MPLS service quality (QoS) inherent in networks is provided SDH and ATM;
- complete isolation from each other virtual corporate networks due to creation for everyone them them peculiar tunnels;
- the transparent admission through a core of IP/MPLS of traffic of protocols Ethernet, Frame Relay or ATM that allows to connect the users using all these various protocols.
