Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF)

Until the end of the 2010th the idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) did not respond to treatment – in an arsenal of doctors there was only a limited set medicinal the means which are slowing down developments of ILF. By 2019 new medicines appeared - with antifibrotichesky and anti-proliferative effects which influence a disease, noticeably improving a status of the patient and considerably prolonging it life.

"Early diagnostics of ILF and timely purpose of modern pathogenetic therapy allow to suspend a course of disease at that stage when irreversible changes of pulmonary fabric did not lead to considerable and tragic deterioration in function of lungs and qualities of life of the patient, allowing to prolong considerably the active period of life", - the chief pulmonologist of Russia Sergey Avdeev explained.

Spread of a disease

According to the data for the beginning of 2019 received on the basis of survey results in the large pulmonary centers of the Russian Federation, the prevalence of ILF in Russia is about 9-11 cases on 100 thousand, and in other countries – 4–6 cases on 100 thousand.

2019: The plan died on development of early diagnostics and therapy of ILF in the Nizhny Novgorod Region

In the Nizhny Novgorod Region it is registered with ILF of 17 patients: 12 men, 5 women. Middle age 64.5 years. 8 patients on a permanent insulyation of oxygen. According to the adopted resolution, in the region in 2019 will begin to implement actively the measures directed to improvement of quality of early diagnostics of ILF, to train specialists in modern methods of treatment and also – to make a systematic transfer of patients from outdated schemes on the innovation therapy. A transfer will be made proceeding from budget opportunities of the region, on the basis of the analysis of a status of each patient, taking into account individual portability and susceptibility to medicine.

"Historically so it developed that our Nizhny Novgorod health care system was always focused on the patient. We created the unique system of provision of medicines at which patients of our region receive the necessary drugs literally right after appointment. We constantly monitor emergence of new methods of therapy, especially regarding chronic diseases, socially important diseases to provide the maximum quality and life expectancy of residents of Nizhny Novgorod. Emergence of modern pathogenetic therapy is a break in the system of assistance to patients with ILF. And we traditionally support the recommendations of experts in implementation of new schemes in treatment of this heavy illness" - the Acting Minister of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Elena Saksonova sounded.

"The pulmonary service of the Nizhny Novgorod Region already on an extent of many years conducts work on improvement of quality of diagnostics and treatment of ILF. But the problem is that kind of qualitatively and timely we diagnosed this disease, its development could not be prevented. But today this situation changed cardinally – modern therapy allows to suspend development of a disease. It means that at timely made diagnosis and purpose of modern pathogenetic medicines, the person will not become a disabled person, will not lose work, family. We really are present at break at treatment of one of the most serious genetic diseases and it is difficult to revaluate value of this event" - the chief non-staff pulmonologist of the Ministry of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Vasily Fedotov told.

Work on implementation of the innovation therapy is conducted in all territory of the Russian Federation. According to results of a meeting of the profile commission of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation in "pulmonology", a priority the commission puts updating and a statement clinical the recommendations about diagnostics and therapy of ILF and also – consideration of a question of entering of ILF into the list of high cost nozologiya that will allow patients to receive effective therapy before assignment of disability by it.
