2021: Increasing toy exports to 38%

According to the results of 2021, China increased the export of toys (dolls, board games, electronic gadgets, plush toys, etc.) by almost 38% compared to 2020 - up to $46.12 billion. Such data were released by the China Toy & Juvenile Products Association in May 2022.

Most of the toys from China in 2021 were delivered in the United States - in the amount of about $13.48 billion. This is 57.3% more than a year ago. Such products totaling $13.59 billion were imported into the UK, Japan, South Korea, Germany, the Netherlands, Mexico, Russia, Australia and Malaysia.

China has increased toy exports by 38% over the year

In China itself, according to the results of 2021, retail sales of toys amounted to 85.46 billion yuan ($12.65 billion), an increase of almost 10% year-on-year. Demand began to grow strongly after the Chinese authorities decided to repeal the rule prohibiting having more than one child in the family. According to the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council, thanks to the new measure, about 2.4 million children are born in China every year.

Celestial by May 2022 remains the largest exporter of toys in the world. Deliveries of Chinese toys abroad are growing for the sixth year in a row, and growth rates in 2021 were the highest in five years, the association noted.

According to a RBC study published in 2021, China remains the largest supplier of children's goods for Russia - the market share of Chinese toys is 70%. In second place is Europe, from where 20% of toys are imported. Russian manufacturers supply 10% of children's products to the national market. The bulk of Chinese toys on the Internet are bought directly at the Chinese AliExpress site, as well as Wildberries, Ozon and other large online platforms.[1]
