Industrial injuries

2023: The number of industrial accidents in Russia has decreased by 1.5 times over 9 years

The number of industrial accidents in Russia over the past 9 years has decreased by 1.5 times. These data were announced in September 2024 by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova in her address to the participants of the IX All-Russian Week of Labor Protection. In her speech, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that occupational safety and health are priorities in the work of the government, which contributes to improving working conditions and reducing the level of occupational injuries.

According to TASS, in 2023 the total number of industrial accidents decreased by 1.5 times compared to 2014. Golikova noted that this is the result of consistent work to improve working conditions and prevent occupational diseases. An important goal set by Russian President Vladimir Putin was to improve the standard of living of the population, which is impossible without creating safe and favorable working conditions for workers.

There are fewer injuries at work in Russia

The Deputy Prime Minister also added that in 2023 the share of workers employed in industries with unfavorable working conditions decreased. Compared to 2022, the share of such employees decreased by 0.7 percentage points. This means that the number of workers exposed to harmful and dangerous working conditions is gradually decreasing.

One of the positive effects of improving working conditions was a decrease in the loss of working time due to industrial accidents. In 2023, the number of days provided to workers in the form of compensation for work in harmful conditions decreased by 3.2% compared to 2022. This suggests that employers are starting to pay more attention to prevention and safety at their enterprises, which, in turn, reduces the need for additional vacations and reduced working hours for employees working in difficult conditions.[1]
