Information management of the organizations (Enterprise Information Management, EIM)
Information management of the organizations (Enterprise Information Management, EIM) is separate knowledge domain which specializes in solutions on optimal use of information within the organizations, for example, for support of management decisions or the operating activities requiring existence of knowledge.
As a part of the platform of data Microsoft SQL Server 2012 the cycle of information management of the organizations (detection, receiving, building and management) is supported by the following products:
- The Project Barcelona component allows to collect automatically information on the available data sources, integration drafts, services, portals and services of the reporting, and then to trace communications between these objects.
- The Integration Services component serves for the organization of loading and data translation between the different systems (including, for data loading in the data warehouse).
- The Data Quality Services component provides standard means of cleaning and comparison of data, on the basis of the available knowledge bases.
- The Master Data Services component gives opportunities for management of the normative reference information as at the level of friendly [1] - and Web interfaces, and at the level of program interfaces.
As a result of use of the listed above technologies process of management of information of the organization can be performed in the following sequence:
- Using the Barcelona project it is possible to analyze the available databases, to systematize this information, to reveal similar entities, etc. On the basis of this information it is possible to develop integration projects.
- In the integration Integration Services project on data loading in the data warehouse the first step executes extraction of data to the intermediate area.
- Data in temporary tables are banished by the following of steps through Data Quality Services to clean the available malformed data in the automatic mode.
- Further the data stream (columns with handbook data) is compared with entities in Master Data Services.
- If compliance with the normative reference information is not found, these records can be saved in separate storage location and then to compare / deduplitsirovat with the help of Data Quality Services in the manual mode, for example, using Excel and a superstructure of MDS with the DQS functions.
- The modified data with the help of SSIS are published in a system consumer (for example, in the data warehouse).
- Using the Barcelona project it is possible to make automatic inventory of the available data, integration projects and the reporting systems that will allow to consider in the future all dependent systems at making changes in data structures.
