Description
Internet gateway, as a rule, this software designed to organize Internet access from a local network. The program is the working tool of the system administrator, allowing it to control traffic and actions of employees. Usually the Internet gateway allows to distribute access among users, to keep account of traffic, to limit access to certain users or user groups to resources to the Internet. The Internet gateway may contain the proxy server, the firewall, the mail server, a sheyper, an antivirus and other network utilities.
The Internet gateway can work both at one of computers of network, and on the separate server. The gateway is installed as the software on the machine with the operating system (for example, Kerio winroute firewall on Windows), or on the empty computer with deployment of the built-in operating system.
