Instructions in Microsoft Operations Framework cover all actions and processes of management of IT services: planning, development, use, service and, eventually, decommissioning. In the MOF model these actions and processes are arranged in the form of control functions by IT services (SMF functions) which are grouped in the stages reflecting lifecycle of the IT service. Each SMF function belongs to a certain stage of lifecycle and has a unique set of the purposes and results answering to a purpose of this stage.
