Alphonse Augustus Sovada (June 23, 1933 - January 11, 2014) was an American Roman Catholic bishop, cultural anthropologist, and the first Bishop of Agates in on the Indonesia island. New Guinea A collector and curator of cultural artifacts, Asmatians he helped found both the Asmatian Museum of Culture and Progress American in Agathes and the Asmatian Art Museum in his home state of Minnesota, which has been at St. Thomas University in St. Paul since 2012.
