2025: Suspension as a result of cyber attack

At the end of March 2024, several state sites Belgium were subjected to a massive hacker attack. As a result, the e-government of the country was MyGov.be forced to stop work.

In addition to the MyGov.be platform, several Internet resources of the Brussels government, as well as the website of the Wallonia Parliament, suffered from the actions of hackers. The attackers used DDoS tactics, and therefore the servers were paralyzed due to "bombing" with requests. The Belgian Cyber Security Center notified law enforcement agencies and other relevant structures of the incident. It is emphasized that confidential or personal data as a result of the actions of cybercriminals did not suffer.

Belgium's e-government MyGov.be halted work in cyber attack

According to the Belga News Agency, behind the organization of the cyber attack is the hacker group NoName057, which previously attacked the websites of the Belgian government several times. According to the agency, the DDoS attack was the reaction of hackers to Belgium providing a package of assistance to Ukraine. In early March 2025, Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken, during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, offered this country military assistance worth about one billion euros. In response, the NoName057 group organized a hacker attack.
