The top analyst of Gartner Bill Menezes considers that CMN are beyond initial purposes — for the small and medium enterprises with the distributed offices having a limited IT field personnel which should support access points of a wireless local area network (WLAN)^[1].

Their functionality is considerably expanded and covers hardwired connections for management, selections of resources, a guest access, application the politician and other typical applications of network services of location.

"We also began to consider device management of security of WAN as a part of a portfolio of cloud computing, and CMN extend to networks of DPCs now. Implementation will continue to extend as the partner ecosystem of suppliers of infrastructure provides an expanded service portfolio" — Menezes reported.

He notes that the organizations with small IT personnel or budget restrictions which need to activate quickly remote branches and remotely to manage them at limited availability of technicians on site, can receive benefit from CMN.

In general networks of retail stores, coffee shops and restaurants, small hotels, waiting rooms in medical institutions, schools, small enterprises and remote offices represent бóльшую a part of the present set CMN base.

In spite of the fact that suppliers of IT often offer CMN solutions for local networks of campuses (LAN), the representative of Gartner reminds that they mlo are suitable for large corporate structures with difficult infrastructure of LAN and WLAN. The research Gartner showed that implementation of CMN by large enterprises with more than 100 branches remains limited.

"These cases require deeper assessment of technical compatibility with the existing infrastructure, compliance to security policies and more careful analysis of an investment payback (ROI)" — Menezes told.

Though CMN is often selected initially for the WLAN settings, the model can be applied also to other network devices. The increasing rapprochement with some solutions of software-defined distributed networks of SD-WAN founded on the platform of cloud management is observed, for example.

For the organizations with narrow IT personnel of Gartner recommends to use CMN for implementation of remote solutions or for creation of such distributed structures where simplicity of selection of resources and ease of administration are necessary for normal work of network equipment.

Before large-scale implementation of CMN also insistently urges the persons making decisions in the field of IT to estimate at Menezes companies also the restrictions and costs connected with this model such as need of payment of a subscription, for maintenance of due functionality of management.
