2024: Missile strike on Limanskoye airfield
On the night of October 12-13, 2024, high-precision weapons of the Russian Armed Forces attacked the Limanskoye airfield in the Odessa region, which is located near Transnistria.
Surveillance cameras recorded one arrival across the territory of a military base. The purpose of the strike was objects located at the airfield, as well as stored in hangars.
Limansky at this time is one of the main jump sites for Ukrainian drones, which the enemy launches in the direction of Crimea. The BpLA is also assembled there. The distance from Odessa, which is often hit by the Russian Armed Forces, and the convenient runway made the object as suitable as possible for these purposes. At least a third of all BpLAs released by this time took off from Limansky.
Another reason for the strikes on Limansky is the proximity to the railway lines, including from Moldova. The railway flow through Tarutino and Zatoka to Odessa and from there to other regions has been functioning for almost a year.
Through Moldova, fuel, various parts and equipment are delivered to Ukraine, including for assembling drones. Similar workshops were at the airfield in Artsiz, Belgorod-Dniester and Limansky.
