In 2006 Russia stopped a pipeline oil supply to Lithuania because she sold PKN Orlen Oil Refinery, but not the Russian company. As of 2015 Lithuania receives the main part of the consumed oil from Russia, buying it tankers.
For 2015 the 10 million tons per year Lithuanian Refinery belongs to the largest refiner of Poland of PKN Orlen.
Poland began to buy oil from Saudi Arabia, and the Minister of Energy of Lithuania Masyulis told that the Refinery itself will solve, whether to buy to it the Saudi oil:
"From the technical point of view if Poland can import, then and we should can. We are glad to new suppliers in the market of energy carriers. The more the better.
He added that Lithuania is ready to buy also the American oil if the USA lifts ban on its export. The House of Representatives in October, 2015 approved the relevant bill, but the president Barack Obama threatened to veto on it.
