2024: EdTech market growth by 20% to ₸95,4 billion

The online market formations Kazakhstan showed significant growth in 2024, an increase of 20% compared to the previous period. The total revenue of the 90 largest EdTech companies reached ₸95,4 billion (₽14,32 billion), which confirms the sustainable development of digital education in the republic. This was reported by analysts on June 24, 2025.

According to DigitalBusiness, the main driver of growth was children's education and preparation for final exams. The children's education segment took a dominant position in the market, accounting for 47% of the total revenue of the industry and showing a record growth of 76%.

The opposite dynamics was shown by the segment of developers and platforms, which decreased by almost 8%. Online schools of additional vocational education also recorded a drop in indicators. Market participants attribute this trend to increased competition and a global decline in demand for IT personnel.

The leader of the rating was the JUZ40 platform, specializing in preparing for a single national exam. According to Statsnet, the company's revenue grew by 67.81% to ₸19,95 billion (₽2,99 billion). A stable demand for preparation for final exams is ensured by a high number of applicants - in 2024, more than 181 thousand people took UNTs.

The second position in the ranking was taken by darlean LMS, formerly known as 5qbe. Despite the decline in indicators by almost 18%, the platform's revenue amounted to ₸15,2 billion (₽2,28 billion). The company specializes in corporate training, which is becoming an increasingly relevant area in Kazakhstan.

The third place went to the Qalan.kz - an online simulator for studying mathematics. The company's revenue showed impressive growth of almost 293% and reached ₸10,6 billion (₽1,59 billion). The uniqueness of the business model lies in the possibility of students receiving cashback up to ₸100 (₽15) per day for regular execution of tasks.

Qalan.kz is actively scaling up activities at the international level. In 2024, the company launched in Egypt, and in 2023 opened representative offices in Russia and Uzbekistan, which demonstrates the expansive potential of Kazakhstani EdTech companies.

The top fast-growing companies led Ozat.online with revenue growth of 763.82%. Edukey took second place with a growth rate of 672.53%. Interactive Range, which offers cybersecurity courses, posted an increase of 443.70%. The list of leaders also included Yandex Workshop, a Russian player actively developing in Kazakhstan with revenue growth of 300%.

Representatives of Yandex Workshop reported threefold growth in the CIS markets in 2024. The dominance of children's education companies in the top of growing organizations confirms the high potential of this segment in the region.

Investment activity in the EdTech market of Kazakhstan decreased in 2024. According to Rise Research, the number of transactions decreased by 35%, and the volume of investments decreased by half. The decline in funding for educational technologies has become a global trend associated with the "venture winter" and the reorientation of investors to less risky instruments.

Several significant transactions on the market still took place. Courstore's online course platform has raised $40,000 from five business angels. The company plans to use the funds received for development in the Central Asia region.

The JobEscape platform, which specializes in teaching freelancers artificial intelligence skills, closed the investment round. The Tumar Venture LP fund invested $250,000 in the project, and Oraseya Capital invested another $350 thousand as part of the SANDBOX accelerator. The funds raised are used to expand the team and strengthen marketing activities.[1]

The market for educational technologies in Kazakhstan decreased to ₸52,4 billion (about 11.5 billion rubles at the exchange rate at the time of publication of the material - November 29, 2024) in 2023, showing a drop of 21%. The main reason for the decline was a decrease in the revenue of companies in the digital educational platform development segment.

According to EdTech, the 5qbe platform, renamed "darlean LMS," showed a 32% decrease in revenue, earning ₸11,8 billion. The company has changed its positioning, focusing on corporate training. Courstore founder and CEO Rauan Syzdykov said the mass emergence of low-quality experts has changed consumer attitudes towards information products, prompting a more cautious approach to buying online courses.

Despite the overall drop, some segments showed growth: children's education increased by 62%, business education - by 55%, Soft skills direction - by 40%, additional vocational education - by 19%.
