Radioactive water discharge from NPP

2023: Dumping from Japan's Fukushima nuclear power plant

According to data for 2023, water will be discharged from the Japanese Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant by 22 trillion becquerels (a measure of the activity of a radiation source), while the Japanese claim that other countries have discharged multiples of large volumes of radioactive water.

It is believed that super-heavy water quickly dissolves in the oceans to safe concentrations.

The Big Garbage Stain

The process of forming a large Pacific garbage patch.

More than 90% of the identifiable garbage on the North Pacific garbage patch comes from just six countries. In 2022, researchers were able to determine the country of origin of 232 items, with the largest percentage in Japan (33.6%). Next was China with 32.3%, followed by South Korea 9.9%, USA with 6.5%, Taiwan with 5.6% and Canada with 4.7%. Collectively, these six countries accounted for more than 92% of the identifiable garbage found on NPGP.
