2017: The rating of the countries with the most physically active inhabitants

Scientists of Stanford University studied data on physical activity of more than 700 thousand people from 46 countries of the world and found out where people lead active lifestyle and where is not present, BBC News reports on July 12, 2017.[1]

Outputs of specialists are based on statistics of a mobile fitness-application of Argus. Set on the smartphone, it allows to analyze physical activity of the person, including counts steps and calories, traces routes and also allows to keep the food diary.[2]

It turned out that on average in the world people make slightly less than five thousand steps a day. If precisely — 4961 steps. Follows from the table provided by experts that the most active people live in Hong Kong. They daily take on average 6880 steps.[3]

Russia appeared in the five of the most physically active countries too. Our compatriots pass on average 5969 steps. On this indicator Russians conceded only to Japanese (6010 steps), Chinese (6189 steps), Ukrainians (6107) and already mentioned residents of Hong Kong.

The activity is higher than average is registered in 19 countries — Sweden, Germany, France, Italy, Great Britain, Singapore and others. Residents of these states take more than 5 thousand steps a day.

The list of lazy included the USA (4774), India (4297), the United Arab Emirates (4516), Romania (4759), etc. The smallest median number of steps in day at residents of Indonesia (3513), Saudi Arabia (3807) and Malaysia (3963).

Also statistics revealed the pattern important for solution of the problem of obesity in the world. Scientists compared "motive inequality" (the term characterizing a difference between indicators of "idlers" and physically active) with data on number of people with excess body weight. It turned out that in the countries with the expressed motive inequality there are more people with obesity.

For example, in Sweden where motive inequality is expressed poorly, one of the lowest indicators of obesity among the population. In the USA, on the contrary, the high level of motive inequality and obesity.
