Purposes of application of a video conferencing

Teachers consider the video conference mode the most desirable method of communication with parents, pupils and colleagues

On November 14, 2011 Polycom published survey results in which 500 school teachers and university teachers from Russia, Great Britain, France, Germany and countries of Northern Europe took part. The conducted survey showed that school teachers consider the video conference mode the most desirable method of communication with parents, pupils and colleagues — when personal contact is impossible.

Main outputs of a research are as follows:

• Three quarters of teachers (77%) believe that more active investment of capital in a video conferencing could have a positive impact on their wards and would allow to improve quality of education, referring to the fact that work in the mode of video conference increases the interest of pupils in the studied subject
• Two thirds of respondents (67%) hold the opinion that training in the mode of video conference develops key skills which can be useful in further life and work.

One more output which can be made on survey results consists that the relation to training in the video conference mode at school teachers and teachers of universities differs a little.

• The teachers dealing with children of school age considered that the greatest perspectives at a video conferencing – in its use as the instrument of joint work (65%) and also for virtual travel (60%) – in other words, for them the practician is method to expand a framework usual educational.
• University teachers, proceeding from the experience, said that more important advantage of a video conferencing is the possibility of inclusion in learning process of bigger number of students (for example, those who study at home) (64%) or an opportunity for those who skipped classes, to browse material after (62%).
• More than a half of teachers of universities (54%) agreed also that important feature of a video conferencing is that it gives the chance to communicate to authoritative specialists in this or that area, and 56% see in a video conferencing one of the means allowing to expand a personal arsenal of educational services thanks to an opportunity to conduct teaching in the mode of distance learning.

Domestic customers of VKS do not hurry to go to clouds

TrueConf summed up at the beginning of 2013 the results of the industry research conducted at a traditional annual seminar of the company in which more than 70 specialists and directors of IT of departments of the enterprises and the organizations from different fields of activity of the CIS countries participated. Based on the conducted survey based on representative selection it was mentioned: nearly 60% of respondents are still preferred by the selected solution VIDEOCONFERENCING to cloud.

Application of a video conferencing for business was separated into four main spheres: 32% of respondents use VKS for negotiations in the organization, 21% - for the organization of remote education, 20% - for demonstrations and broadcastings, and 19.5% - for communication with subscribers outside the company.

More than a half of respondents prefer to unroll all VKS system - servers and terminals - in the company, 32% select cloud services, and 7% agree to purchase services of service provider, but not terminals. Any of respondents does not agree to rent all VIDEOCONFERENCING infrastructure at service provider. Still most part of respondents prefers the closed selected solution to cloud. At the same time, growth of popularity of cloud solutions is observed. Last year interest in development of cloud structure of a VIDEOCONFERENCING system was noted only by 22% of participants (in comparison with 32% in it).

Remote work using video conference becomes more popular: for 80% of respondents it increases efficiency and only 15% prefer to work always from 'good old office'. For comparison, answering the same question on a spring action of the company, only 68% of respondents specified that in their company a part of a command already works far off out of office.

Integration into mobile devices became the chief leader in an issue of development of opportunities of compatibility of already available solutions VIDEOCONFERENCING with external systems - it was selected by 24.5% of respondents. 22.4% of respondents video conference with subscribers of Skype is necessary, 21, 4% are interested in integration into the VIDEOCONFERENCING hardware terminals, and 20.4% - with corporate automatic telephone exchanges. 10% of respondents are not interested in development of additional opportunities of compatibility of already available VKS of infrastructure.
