Purulent hidradenitis

Purulent hidradenitis (hereinafter referred to as GH) is a chronic, systemic recurrent skin disease in which periodic inflammation of sweat glands located in the axillary, inguinal and other areas of the body occurs.

Spread of the disease

The average prevalence of purulent hidradenitis among the population of the Russian Federation, according to experts and data from the Russian Ministry of Health for 2025, is 0.1%, or 146,425 people. The highest incidence of HG is in the age group of 30-39 years.

Forms of purulent hidradenitis

There are severe forms of purulent hidradenitis, characterized by frequent exacerbations, the formation of multiple purulent abscesses, fistulas with severe pain syndrome, itching and unpleasant odor. Such inflammations lead to persistent impairment of the functions of the upper and/or lower extremities in patients, lead to cases of temporary disability during the year, significantly worsen the daily life of patients, causing both physical and emotional discomfort.

According to international recommendations, patients with severe forms of purulent hidradenitis require long-term, comprehensive treatment, surgical interventions in a 24-hour hospital, as well as genetically engineered biological therapy.
