2023: Fiber Optic Line Launch
In mid-September 2023, MTS announced the launch of a fiber-optic communication line (FOCL) between the mainland of Vladivostok and Russky Island. This project will increase the network capacity and speed of mobile Internet for subscribers and corporate clients, as well as ensure fault-tolerant network operation on the island territory, the company said.
Fiber optic communication line connects the MTS data center in Vladivostok with the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University. VOLS enters all 23 buildings of the university - administrative, educational and residential. The peculiarity of the object is that part of the communication line passes inside a technically complex engineering structure - a cable-stayed bridge over the Bosphorus Vostochny Strait with a length of 3100 meters. The total duration of the FOCL is more than 38 kilometers.
Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) is a platform for testing and introducing high-tech solutions, a scientific and technological center. The launch of the FOCL will allow students and teachers to use modern digital services for work, study and cultural leisure, MTS noted. The company added that the developed telecom infrastructure will also allow the introduction of digital solutions of the MTS ecosystem on the territory of Russky Island.
We continue to actively develop and improve the telecommunications infrastructure in the Primorsky Territory. Russky Island is a strategically important object of a federal scale. The most important objects of the social, educational and cultural sphere are located here: FEFU, medical center, Cultural and educational complex for gifted children, Oceanarium. The development of the island is actively continuing - a large water park and an amusement park are being built. The presence of a reliable and modern communication infrastructure will contribute to the further digital transformation of the territory, and will make our region even more attractive for investment, "said Evgenia Sysoeva, director of MTS in the Primorsky Territory. |
