2013: Growth of supply rate by 21% is predicted
According to forecasts of analysts of IDC (March, 2013), in 2013 growth of supply rates of smart connected devices (in this case this category switches on the PC, tablets and smartphones) around the world will be 21.2%. And by 2017 supply rates of "smart" devices, as expected, will be 2.250 billion units that will make $814.3 billion on an indicator of profit and to mean growth by 87.3% during the period from 2012 to 2017.
As experts of IDC expect, supply rates of tablet PCs will exceed supply rates of desktop PCs in 2013 and portable PCs in 2014.
In 2013 according to forecasts universal supply rates of desktop PCs will decrease by 4.3%, and by 2017 supply rates of these devices will be 141 million units that will mean 6% a share from the universal supply rate of smart connected devices. Decrease during the period from 2012 to 2017 in this segment thus will be 5%.
In 2013, as expected, universal supply rates of mobile PCs will show small growth in 0.9%. By 2017 supply rates of these devices will be 240.9 million units that will mean 11% a share from the universal supply rate of smart connected devices. Despite decrease in a share, during the period from 2012 to 2017 in this segment growth will be 19.3%.
As experts of IDC expect, supply rates of tablet PCs will exceed supply rates of desktop PCs in 2013 and portable PCs in 2014. In 2013, as expected, universal supply rates of "tablets" will grow by 48.7% and will exceed a mark of 190 million devices. By 2017 supply rates of these devices will be 352.3 million units that will mean 16% a share from the universal supply rate of smart connected devices. During the period from 2012 to 2017 in this segment growth will be 174.5%.
In 2013, as expected, universal supply rates of smartphones will grow by 27.2% to an indicator of 918.5 million units of devices. By 2017 supply rates of smartphones sostavyat1.516 one billion units that will mean 67% a share from the universal supply rate of smart connected devices. During the period from 2012 to 2017 in this segment growth will be 109.9%.
In 2013 in emerging markets, as expected, growth of the market of all category of smart connected devices when comparing "it is suitable - year" will make 26.6%. The Segment of tablets at the same time will grow by 60.7%, and smartphones – for 35.1%.
In 2013 in the developed markets, as expected, growth of the market of all category of smart connected devices when comparing "it is suitable - year" will make 13.8%. The Segment of tablets at the same time will grow by 41.4%, and smartphones – for 15.1%.
According to forecasts of IDC, during the period until the end of 2017, segments of tablet PCs and smartphones will potentially have considerable perspectives of growth in the markets of emerging economies. In general, during this time, supply rates of "tablets", as expected, will increase three times with the predicted supply rates estimated at $125 billion.
Smartphones, in turn, according to the forecast will double indicators on supply rates. The predicted supply rates of smartphones are estimated at $462 billion during the specified period. The Segment of mobile PCs, as expected, will show the moderate growth while in a segment of desktop PCs consecutive decrease will be observed and this segment will not show growth in 2017.
2012: 1.2 billion devices, growth - 29% are sold
According to the research IDC (March, 2013), in 2012 in the universal market supply rates of the devices with the smart prefix having connection to the Internet (in this case this category switches on the PC, tablets and smartphones) grew by 29.1% in comparison with 2011 and in the amount were more than 1.201 billion units of devices.
In terms of money the volume of the considered market was $576.9 billion. Growth of the market was in many respects provided with increase in supply rates of tablet PCs which showed growth by 78.4% in a year that made in terms of money more than $128 million.
Considering the market of smart connected devices on categories, IDC provides the following data on universal supply rates:
In 2012 deliveries of the devices belonging to the category of desktop PCs made 148.4 million units that means a share in 12.4% of the universal supply rate of smart connected devices.
Portable (mobile) PCs at the end of 2012 showed digit in 202 million devices on supply rates that means a share in 16.8% of total market.
The main gain in the market of smart connected devices in 2012 was provided by segments of smartphones and tablet PCs. This trend will be observed and in the future. In particular it concerns "tablets". So, supply rates of tablet PCs at the end of 2012 were 128.3 million devices, and it makes 10.7% of the market of smart connected devices.
The Segment of smartphones increased the share in the market on supply rates in 2012 even more. Supply rates of smartphones according to a research were 722.4 million devices that means a share in 60.1% of total market of smart connected devices.
If to consider a situation on types of devices and regions, then analysts of IDC note that in the markets with developing economy in general growth of sizes of the market of devices in 2012 was 41.3% when comparing of category smart connected "is suitable - year". Growth of a segment of tablet PCs at the same time was 111.3%, and the category of smartphones grew by 69.7% in 2012.
In the markets with developed economy in general growth of sizes of the market of devices in 2012 was 15.6% when comparing of category smart connected "is suitable - year". Growth of a segment of tablet PCs at the same time was 62.8%, and the category of smartphones grew by 20.6% in 2012[1].
