2024: Worldwide audio amplifier sales for electronics hit $11.8 billion in a year

In 2024, the global market for audio amplifiers for electronics amounted to $11.8 billion. More than a third of global costs came from the North American region. Such data are contained in a Fortune Business Insights study, the results of which were published on May 8, 2025.

The analyzed sector covers a wide range of products: from consumer-grade amplifiers used in home entertainment systems to professional solutions that are used in concert equipment and recording studios. The authors of the study call the combination of changing consumer preferences and technological advances a key industry driver. In particular, there is an increase in demand for products that provide high quality sound.

Advanced audio amplifiers are increasingly used in automotive infotainment systems - this, as stated in the report, is one of the main market trends. Consumers pay great attention to sound quality in purchased cars, which forces manufacturers to invest heavily in the development of appropriate audio systems. According to Intive estimates, by the end of 2026, the volume of the automotive entertainment technology segment will be about $21.5 billion.

There is also an increase in sales of consumer electronics capable of providing high quality sound. We are talking about smart speakers, soundbars, home theater systems, etc. The observed trends stimulate the expansion of the industry: leading players invest in the development of products with intelligent functions, spatial sound, effective noise cancellation, etc.

Analysts call the relatively high level of power consumption of some sound amplifiers one of the significant restraining factors. This limits their use in equipment that is powered by batteries. In addition, the cost of advanced products is often too high for consumers on a budget.

Depending on the application, the market is segmented into consumer electronics, automotive systems, gaming devices and products Virtual [[Reality (VR, Virtual Reality)|virtual reality]] and other products, including telecommunications devices and corporate communication systems. In 2024, almost half of the revenue - 48% - was provided by consumer electronics. The dominance of the sector is due to the use of audio amplifiers in a variety of products - from smartphones and wearable gadgets to TVs and laptops. The same segment also demonstrates the highest growth rates.

From a geographical point of view, North America leads with a share of 35%, or $4.13 billion at the end of 2024. This is due to the availability of advanced technological infrastructure and the widespread introduction of sound amplifiers in industries such as automotive, entertainment and consumer electronics. Globally, the big players are:

Moving forward, the Compound Percentage CAGR in the market in question will be 5.6%, according to analysts at Fortune Business Insights. As a result, by 2032, sales will rise to $18.13 billion.[1]
