2020: The Government of the Russian Federation introduced a tax deduction for sports

At the end of October 2020, it became known that the Government of the Russian Federation approved the introduction of a tax deduction for fitness services. The maximum deduction (13% of the amount of 120 thousand rubles) to be returned to the taxpayer may be 15,600 rubles.

According to the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, in 2019, 177,083 institutions, enterprises, associations and organizations carried out fitness and sports work in Russia. As of January 1, 2020, about 3.5 thousand of these organizations are fitness centers - physical education and sports organizations that provide citizens with physical training and physical development services. In 2019, 6,368,074 people were engaged in fitness centers, the agency said.

Such tax deductions will especially help fitness industry operators. In October, the National Fitness Community (unites 1700 clubs) warned of the closure of 70% of market participants by February due to the actions of regional authorities and fines.[1]
