Growth rates of the market of BI systems are advanced by market development of ICT of Russia in general. So, according to TAdviser, in 2012 Russia and the CIS countries in this segment reached 39.675 billion rubles that is 15% more, than the previous year (34.5 billion rubles). Such dynamics is explained, first of all, by the low level of penetration. That before the world market, sizes of the market of the business intelligence systems (BI), according to forecasts of Gartner had to reach $13.8 billion in 2013, it for 7% of indicators previous more than a year.

On the industries of the Russian economy the greatest share in BI projects is occupied traditionally by three whales - finance, trade, a public sector.

Nevertheless, dynamics of the energy sector does not concede, say, to a telecom and medicine: for all history of observations of TAdviser in these industries it is implemented on several tens of BI projects: the power holds the 7th place among all industries on rates of mastering of BI with 46 projects (for March, 2014). From nearly 1 thousand projects in the energy sector, data on which are available in TAdviser base, on BI about 5% of projects are the share (for comparison – of ERP implementations – 22.6%, of EDMS – 13.8%, of EAM – 12.1%).

The industry of power is characterized by a large number of diverse technical data and also the physical and legal structure distributed on the cities and regions. All these factors from year to year update problems of effective management and forecasting of a power consumption.

It is connected, including, and with the aspiration of the government to integrate the enterprises of different patterns of ownership into uniform structure for the purpose of increase in transparency of the power industry.

For what use BI systems in power industry

It is difficult to revaluate the business analysis in power industry. However, the industry distributes accents with big overweight towards the analysis of Big Data. Not surprisingly, and in general the market situation of BI systems such is that the key driver of projects is Big Data.

So, the initial stage of implementation of the systems operating with Big Data, this simplification and increase in convenience of interaction with large volumes of unstructured information. The similar solution of SAP NetWeaver Portal was implemented in JSC OGK-2. The efficiency of communication in the distributed structure of the company was as a result increased, access to information systems is simplified, investment soundness in IT is increased and the platform for creation service oriyetirvoannoy structures of OGK-2 is created.

"The business intelligence is demanded including regarding creation of flexible analytical requests, in particular, in financial and economic activity. It is possible to give implementation of formats of the Ministry of Energy and Federal Tariff Service on the basis of the consolidated data as an example of active use of BI", - Nikolay Bazhanov, the project manager, practice of SAP of Asteros Consulting tells.

However, according to the expert, in the corporate sector the analytical systems for formation of a summary otchestnost are most demanded. Projects of creation CDW (corporate data warehouses) which are more aimed at the solution of analytical, but not reporting tasks are not so successful yet and therefore are less demanded. Basic reasons – in methodological complexity of project data. The energy companies operate with huge data, but concepts of use of these data within the single analytical systems are often not clear and require significant methodological work, he is sure. At the same time technology support in terms of creation of such systems is already widely developed - practically all large vendors (first of all by SAP, Oracle, IBM, etc.) deliver BI solutions.

The vice president of Borlas Arkady Karev confirms that the role of means of analytics for the energy companies increases. "So, for example, almost in each our project on billing implementation there is a need of implementation of a BI system for the analysis of operating activities and interaction with subscribers at once", - the expert explained.

Also in power especially relevant is a problem of effective management, simulation and forecast models for this purpose are under construction. For example, BI allows to solve effectively a classical problem of creation of balance of demand and electricity consumption to determine development volume.

So, the Prognoz company implemented the project with JSC Inter RAO UES on modeling system implementation.

"We created regional model of an environment of wholesale market of the electric power and power of the Russian Federation which use provides operational (up to 5 years) and long-term strategic (up to 20 years) demand forecasting on products of holding in general, its separate branches, subsidiaries and affiliates", - Mikhail Fedorov, the head of corporate solutions of Prognoz company told.

CROC had a project for one energy company within which in real time are visualized as technology indicators of work of power plants (since electricity production and finishing with a radiation situation), and a current status of the equipment (in work, under repair, etc.). This information allows to hold indicators normal, to manage risks on an equipment stop, to predict generation and electricity consumption, - Vyacheslav Maximov, the director of industrial solutions of CROC company told.

Future BI in power industry

The global trend of development of IT market, both in private, and in the koroporativny sector is a leaving in mobility. Such foreshortening is gradually accepted also by BI products regarding decision making support systems (development of different situations on the basis of statistical data of previous periods). The priority of project data is in no small measure connected with efforts of the government of the country to increase transparency and controllability in the electrical power industry in general, by enterprise integration of different patterns of ownership in uniform structure which need was realized at last by all market participants, Alexey Kirillov, the project manager of department of SAP of Corus Consulting considers.

Also in the next years solutions in the field of a business intelligence, especially convergent – for example, by BI+GIS or BI+ technology data will be demanded. Interest from customers in solutions such already is. It is, in particular, the operational analysis of situations, decision support, formation of the analytical reporting and creation of analytical panels and also consolidation of the reporting and so forth, - Vyacheslav Maximov predicts.

Experts agree in opinion that the analytics of Big Data (Big data) will remain the main driver. In the market BI development cloud, mobile and social tools will continue to play a significant role.
